Introduced in a group during Monteverdi's "Io me son giovinetta", Amaya Dominguez from France, immediatly impressed with her dramatic skills and ringing, focused mezzo-soprano. Her solo spot came late, but the wait was worthwhile : she reigned supreme in Armida's revenge aria from "Rinaldo", despite opposition from Benoit Hartoin's harpsichord and her own pair of shoes - taken of, clutched and thrown away. Clear articulation, natural phrasing, vibrant emotions : this is a singer well on her way.
